how can can i improve my mental game for golf?

OK here is my problem, most of the time when i am playing competitive golf and regular fun golf, i get on the tee box and millions of thoughts race into my head about where i should hit and how i should hit. But if their are trees, water, or out of bounds all my thoughts focus on hitting it in their right away. When i set up for my shot i am still focusing on the water or etc, but i try to focus on hitting it straight down the fairway. When i swing back i am still thinking about the water, or etc. and when i hit it, i am still thinking of the hazard, and goes right into the water, and i am not even aiming at the water or etc. But for some reason i pull hook, hook, push, slice, top and duff into the hazard almost every time. What is wrong with me? What is going on? Is it fixable? Is it some kin of mental disorder?

Mental Golf Training

Minding Your Game- Mental Golf Training

As an NLP practitioner I often review mental golf training programs, some of them are rubbish but once in a while I come across a really good one. This is the case with 'Minding Your Golf' - Mental Golf Training by Canadian Wade Pearse.

Here's the description of  Wade Pearse's mental game training program:

golf-mental-training-eBook"Imagine...it's the 1st tee & you have no nerves, you have a 12 footer to win and you calmly drain the putt, you play in competition as relaxed as you do in casual rounds - confident, rhythmic, effortless golf"

Imagine possessing a method that lets you tap and direct the full power of your mind and channel it directly into your golf game to shoot lower scores?

Think about it...no more game killing nerves, missed pressure putts, blow-up holes when you have a chance to go really low and win a bet, match or tournament.

Ask yourself how much better you'd play if you could manage your mind and your game more effectively? If you knew a technique that literally unlocked the full power of your mind and let you focus and concentrate without effort. That put you in a score crushing trance?

'Minding Your Game' comes complete with the following items:

  • 2 sections of the full Minding Your Game ebook
  • 2 Professionally recorded Audio Coaching Sessions
  • 2 Video Sessions with coaching on the key processes in the book.
  • 3 Bonuses: Short Game ebook, Yoga ebook and a Kettlebell fitness workout Video

Excellent customer support for product.

As an aside, with reference to Tiger Woods, this is a very topical paragraph from the golf training material:

What do players on the PGA Tour say Tiger Woods' strongest asset is?

tiger-woods-in-despairThey all say it is Tiger's mind that separates him from the field on tour. It's interesting how they don't talk about his ball striking as the key. Or his putting. Or any of his physical skills. They unanimously talk about his mental toughness, his focus and commitment to each and every shot.

Tiger Woods' dominance is the direct result of how he uses his mind. If you're a pro golfer you know it's how well you use your mind and manage your game that determines the scores you shoot. If you're an average golfer you can accelerate your learning and how fast you break 80 by learning how to use this MindPower breakthrough.

As a supporter of Tiger Woods, I REALLY DO hope, that in his case, his mental strength is enough to get im through his current turmoil.

However, I digress, back to Wade Pearse's 'golf mental game' training !

Wade Pearse's background is in the field of personal development training and peak performance coaching. His business centered around working with top performers in all areas of life: athletes, corporate executives and virtually anyone who wanted to keys to their own excellence.

During this work, he discovered some truly phenomenal processes on how to use the mind to improve ANY area of a persons life. He states that although that's a huge claim to make, he can back it up. Especially in golf.

Most every player focuses on the swing as the only thing that matters to play great golf.

They buy golf training aids and $400 drivers every year. Thousands of dollars are spent on gimmiks in hopes of dropping even a few strokes.

But the average score of all golfers hasn't dropped more than 1 stroke in the past 25 years!

With big headed drivers that hit the ball a mile and sweet spots the size of a baseball, ultra-forgiving perimiter weighted irons, square grooved wedges and balls that spin less for added distance and scores really haven't improved more than 1 stroke on average. Don't you think there's something wrong with this picture?!

"I want to be what I've always wanted to be: dominant."

Tiger Woods

Tiger's mindset holds one of the keys.

How bad do you want to play well?

Is it merely a wish, a dream, a fantasy? Or are you truly ready to shoot the best scores of your life?

The MindPower Breakthough processes reveals the mental game strategies of Tiger Woods (as well as some of the best athletes in other sports that let them dominate thier sport)

Every golfer has heard the saying "It's all in your head" or "Golf is 90% mental" or "Golf is the most mentally demanding sport in the world."

Yet what do golfers do about it?

golf-mental-training-eBookWell, most often absolutely nothing. But not necessarily because they don't want to: sometimes golfers actually think the mental game doesn't matter to them!

Many golfers get stuck into thinking that the mental game only matters for elite players or pros who make a living golfing. Nonsense!

EVERY golfer needs to use their mind properly

  • It is your mind that determines how well you learn when taking lessons. (and this training course is packed with accelerated learning techniques)
  • It is your mind that will allow you to set up to the ball correctly and commit to your swing (or not!).
  • It is your mind that will either stay focused under pressure and get you to make a smooth, fluid stroke when you need to drain an 8 footer for the win or have you choking like a dog and collapsing like a house of cards when the heat is on!

This is my first year playing golf and I don't want to develop bad habits. I am a 25 handicap and I just learned how to pitch a ball although I can't yet control it's distance. Anyways, I can drive the ball 275 yards 6 times out of 18, so the potential is there at times. However, almost everyone I play w/ tells me that I am bending my left hand too much. Does anyone know of an aid or trick that can help me w/ this? Will lessons be useful or is it all mental? Thanks for your time and assistance!

How much of the game of golf is mental?

I know of some guys who say golf is 80% mental and 20% physical when you get to a high level, and others who say the opposite.

If you can, please state how many years you have been playing or your handicap.

Golf Swing: Mental make up?

I have been smashing the ball off the tee, straight and far. I can usually get 4 or 5 pars and a birdie on a par 72 course. My second shot for some reason always sucks! I know I can hit well because I can usually get a birdie every round. It seems like I approach the second shot the same way as the others, but for some reason it all goes to hell. My game is close to being complete (my putting is good), but my second shot regardless of club is lacking. My Question: How do you approach your second shot on say a Par 4 with a 120-130 yds to the pin?

How do I start learning how to develop my mental golf game?

I need alot of help with my mental game for golf ?

I know I can beat this kid and yeasterday, I played him for a place on our golf team and I was having a rough day.

On the last hole I had a wide open opportunity to win then I played 4 horrible shots and he beat me.

I REALLY need to work on the mental golf game, do you guys have any reading suggestions on things I should work on to help me with my problem ?

I am able to hit balls all day long on the driving range but when I get on the course I have a pause at the top of my back swing that is at least two seconds long - it has ruined my entire game and may force me to quit. Any one out there that has had this problem? And if so, how did you fix it? Please help!!!

Is golf more mental than physical??

And what are some things i can do to help my mental game?

Golf: mental mindset?

I'm an amateur golfer and I hit the ball really well but I really struggle with the mental side of the game. Some of my friends who are low handicappers say that golf , according to Ben Hogan, is 30% physical and 70 % mental.
